Experience Nature and Adventure at the Puerto Princesa Underground River!

When you’re in Palawan, you cannot possibly miss visiting the Puerto Princesa Underground River! It belongs to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s new 7 wonders of nature.

This underground river is one of the longest in the world, and it flows under the St. Paul Mountain Range. The cave stretches as long as 24 kilometers while the river is 8.2 kilometers. The regular tours will cover only 1.5 kilometers of the river, as that’s what regular boats fit in. If you secure a special permit, you can paddle yourself inside the entire span of the river to admire the various rock formations there.

Puerto Princesa contains a sea ecosystem and is a protected forest that contains 800 plant species, and is home to at least 174 birds, 84 mammals, 28 reptiles, and 12 amphibian species that are endangered, rare, and endemic to this part of the world only.

If you’re already in Palawan, don’t skip out on visiting this sought after site! If you get lucky, you can even see the 20-million year old Miocene-aged Serenial fossil among its walls.
