Explore the Hidden Wonders of Shimizu Island in El Nido!

In Palawan, the view of limestone cliffs isn’t a new thing. But Shimizu Island is a cut above from the rest. It stands dominantly among the multiple islands in the province, with coves, towering cliffs, and a rich marine biodiversity that is peppered with colorful coral reefs.

You might wonder why an island in the Philippines sounds Japanese. But the lore behind it is that a Japanese woman named Shimizu tried to find an underwater cave but unfortunately did not survive her trip. Now, Shimizu Island is a sought after location in El Nido, but one that isn’t oversaturated with tourists.

Aside from the beautiful nature it offers, they also have an abundant monitor lizard population that some tourists get a chance to see. It is located further than Miniloc Island and can only be accessed through availing a Premium El Nido tour.

When you want to visit the wonders of El Nido, you should make sure that Shimizu is included!
